Holy Fuck is fucking dead.
It was a delightful weekly comedy show run by
Dave Ross and
Jeff Wattenhofer.
Starting in November of 2009, sketch screenings and great stand-up comedy came to the
Downtown Independent Theater in Los Angeles for free every Tuesday night. (Actually, every other Tuesday for the first year. But almost!) If you were of a part of it, thank you. We had fun.
Louis CK performed on the show, as did Patton Oswalt and Aziz Ansari. Maria Bamford, Dana Gould, Marc Maron, The Sklar Brothers, Ron Lynch, Kyle Kinane, Eric Andre and Todd Glass became veritable regulars for a time, and many more came through for a night or two, including Demetri Martin, Margaret Cho, Natasha Leggero, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel, Tig Notaro, and countless other great comics the world will soon fall in love with. The show was featured in the LA Times, LA Weekly, LAist, the Nerdist Podcast, and more.
The show continued to grow and explode and yield great shows until 2013 when Jeff and Dave, feeling as if the project was nearing a close, recorded an
album and closed up shop. The last show ever, as recorded on Hi-8 in that video up there, was on July 2, 2013 and brought hundreds and hundreds of people to the Downtown Independent, Patton Oswalt, Marc Maron, dozens of other comics and an audience that kept the show going til 2am. It will be missed.
